What is Visceral Manipulation?
Visceral manipulation is a gentle, manual therapy used to help your internal organs (viscera) glide smoothly within your body. This technique can be used to treat abdominal pain, endometriosis, adhesions from surgery, Diastasis Recti and much more. The technique involves gentle compression and movement that may feel like pressure or stretching but is not painful.
Visceral Manipulation can be used to treat scars and more widespread visceral adhesions caused by surgery such as c-section, gall bladder removal, laparoscopy and ablation of endometriosis.. As a surgical scar heals, the connective tissue can start to bind with deeper tissues, creating restriction or pain that can extend far beyond the surgical site.
Visceral Manipulation is particularly effective in treating endometriosis, pelvic floor dysfunction and digestive issues such as GERD. Diastasis Recti can improve by up to 2-3 cm in a single treatment.
During your initial assessment Tracey will take a full medical history, assess your movement and perform a gentle examination of your visceral tone and motility. Treatment time usually lasts 30 minutes after which your symptoms will be re-assessed. Expect to feel a new freedom of movement, enhanced breathing and an improvement in abdominal congestion.
