Rehabilitation

Often after illness, injury, or surgical procedures, people find that they are not able to cope with normal daily activities as they used to. Rehabilitation aims to rebuild your strength and confidence and teach you new skills to help you cope at home.

Adapting to life after stroke or as a result of a neurological condition can be challenging for the whole family. We can arrange home visits, shopping trips and advice regarding specialist equipment to make life a little more manageable.

Massage

Remedial and Sports Massage uses a variety of manual techniques to improve soft tissue flexibility, relieve pain and tension and restore range of movement.

Ours Sports Massage Therapists are able to deliver a range of massage and advanced soft tissue techniques set within a framework of assessment and rehabilitation. As well as dealing effectively with a variety of musculoskeletal problems this can also be used to help in recovery and reduce symptoms in many medical conditions.

Pre and post event massage treatments enhance sporting performance and expedite recovery – essential in keeping the competitive athlete at peak performance.

“Having just had some bits of my backbone lopped off to sort out spinal stenosis which had been giving all sorts of problems from muscular weakness to numbness from the waist down, I was recuperating and getting mighty impatient to be up and doing and foul tempered with all and sundry into the bargain.

Heather, my wife, was getting tired of my whingeing and called in the cavalry in the delightful shape of Tracey. She took one look at me and said “ Get up you lazy bastard and get stuck into some exercises “ … Well she may not have said those exact words but that was their meaning. Motivation.. Motivation .. Tracey researched what was needed and came back with papers by eminent authorities and a proper plan to get me up and doing.

From finding it difficult and acutely embarrassing to walk 100 yards two years ago, this summer I hiked in the Rockies, canoed on the Great Lakes, rode my horse round cross country courses (falling off a couple of times!, ) mountain biked with my kids on my birthday, sailed my ketch to Ireland and back etc. etc.

Life is an adventure and because of Tracey I am now able to be on the attack again. I can’t thank her enough!”

“Three years ago my back was broken in a traffic accident. After years of rehabilitation with a variety of medical professionals, I still had huge pain and movement issues. Within 9 sessions Tracey was able to manipulate my lower spine so that I am now able to walk and stand correctly. She also gave me both Pilates, relaxation and traditional exercises to support my recovery and help me correct the poor posture I was using to make up for the lack of movement in my lower spine.

I am now a Personal Trainer, and successfully use the knowledge Tracey gave me with my clients, to support them to improve their posture and give them relief from the many problems a poor posture and defective movement patterns can cause to our daily lives.”
